Outsourcing? Give us a call. There's some things you need to hear.

Outsourcing is huge for big corporations but is it right for you? Very possibly so. Is it as easy as "discount programming from an elite team in Bangalore, India who assure you satisfaction"? No way.

CIT (Calcutta Institute of Technology) is a renown learning institution.

Internationally, it competes for prospects with MIT and UCLA-Berkely. There is no doubt there's top talent in India, in Pakistan and for that matter in Ireland, Israel and the former Soviet Union. There's also a lot of complete junk being coded there, here and everywhere.

Do you know what you are getting yourself into?

Even with the best developers, three big barriers exist in offshore contracts:

  1. The language/cultural barrier. Forget about RFP documents. Project specifications must be written in minute detail and written in "internationalized style" which is easily translatable and enforcable.
  2. The time-zone barrier. The synchronous time table of USA-India projects is usually very early in the morning, very late at night or both. This is punishing for project managers and programmers on both sides, especially when all are faced with a full work day in between meetings. Both sides wake up to take calls.
  3. The legal venue barrier. If disputes arise, who's court of jurisdiction will you pursue remedy in? If relationships fail, what exactly will be your recourse?
